For external wall surfaces such as garden walls, garden beds, masonry retaining walls and a fireplace face that have no appeal and look quiet boring, you can enhance these applications by selecting a stone veneer product to create natural beauty, additional character and the impact of the design emphasis that is continuous in texture and color. Winter is a great time to think about surrounding your fireplace with Stone Veneer. Stone Veneer allows you to give your fireplace that look of real stone for a fraction of the cost. It is very easy to install and a project that most DIY people would love.
Stone veneers can be broken into two main groups and two major styles. The two main groups are natural stone veneer and man-made veneer which is often referred to as cultured stone. This is a little confusing because Cultured Stone is a brand name that the industry recognizes as the innovators and orginators of the product. It is like all facial tissues are know as Klenex. The two major styles that most people choose from are dry stacked and mortared. Dry stacked stones look as though they are stacked one upon another and very little if any mortar between the stones. Mortared stones will have mortar showing between each stone and vary in distance and finish. The mortar joints can vary in distance, but most are about half an inch. Below are some examples of each. See if you can identify the difference between Dry Stacked and Mortared.
At Battlefield Stone, we are experts at helping you choose the correct stone veneer that will compliment any project you might be undertaking. We represent three separate manufactures: Cultured Stone, Coronado Stone and Environmental Stoneworks. The styles we carry can be found in the products categories. Choosing stone veneer is very much like choosing paint colors. Lighting plays a large factor in selecting the right stone.
Battlefield Stone is here to help with your selection of stone that will enhance your project. We provide stone veneer installations for both interior and exterior applications. Drystack stone will usually be slightly more for materials and installations. Although is looks like it would be easier to install the opposite is true. Drystack takes alot of attention to detail, unless using one of the new panel selections. Call today for a quote, we are here to help.
There are many choices for a mortared stone, fieldstone is just one example. The nice thing about mortared stone is that the look can be changed by simply choosing a different color mortar. Mortared stone is usually cheaper for the material and installation. Mortared Stones can usually be installed twice as fast as a standard ledgestone/drystack.
